Summer Work

Throughout the summer, I worked on four different projects, each telling a different story. The four projects were Playing Cards, Amalgamation, Side-Angle Architecture, and Backlit. Each project used a different tool in order to capture the best photo. Throughout these projects, I was able to hone in and refine my photography skills by being creative with backgrounds, colors, and external effects. By using different angles, I was able to capture the perfect photos.

01

Playing Cards

In this project, I aimed to show the ascension from the youngest to the oldest, starting with a little girl and ending with a grown man. The concept was formulated do to a wedding in my family. I thought it would be a good idea to portray my family as a suit of diamonds because they are the most important part in my life. I also wanted to show the lineage of my family and the story that we possess.

02

Amalgamation

This project was about using self-portraits to create feelings. Through this project, I was able to show the feeling of positiveness, calmness, and excitement. Most pictures were scenes taken in Hawaii, showing the calm nature of my summer. The goal of this project was to combine two pictures of similar styles in order to incorporate a new feeling.  I also tried to incorporate all aspects from my vacation, from the calmness of the sun and sky to the excitement and wildness of the various activities such as hiking and zip lining.

03

Side-Angle Architecture

The concept came from trying to understand the history of Dallas, Texas. I realized that I did not know enough about the city's history, so I decided to go out and take pictures of some of the most important buildings in Downtown Dallas. I started with the oldest building, the Dallas County Courthouse built in 1892, and ending with the Blue Ciel which was built in 2017.

04

Backlit

The purpose of this project was to project the difference between fantasy and reality. The fantasy portion of the project was shot in Hawaii, with the sun setting behind Lanai. The reality portion was shot during sundown in Dallas. Since many vacations that people take are a fantasy compared to where they live, I wanted to portray the differences between the two destinations For the Dallas pictures, I decided to use people doing activities such as playing sports, jumping, or thinking. On the beach, I decided to do mostly candid pictures because vacation helps people become more relaxed.
